Data management policy

Confidentiality

Our data policy is – your data are strictly confidential. We don’t browse your pictures, we don’t look into your documents or emails. They are backed up in a sandboxed system running on a stable platform, inaccessible from outside.

Backups

In case of data recovery, one of the most common mistakes it to attempt to perform the recovery directly on the damaged drive. We create a direct clone – a “working copy” – of your drive, therefore preserving state of the original. In case we are not successful with our recovery, it enables more advanced data recovery centers to work more efficiently.

Generally, we ask you what data you want us to back up for you. We create same-name user profiles as created originally, unless asked otherwise. We back up the whole profile folder, run an antivirus scan on it, and restore it on your desktop – this prevents from corruption caused by a corrupt profile. Your Documents, Music, Photos and Videos should be easily available; advanced things such as MSN/ICQ history, or Outlook/Outlook Express emails, are stored in hidden system folders under the restored profile - you have to let us know you want them restored.

Data loss

We take no liability for any data loss. If you tell us your data is indeed really precious for you, we’ll be happy to create a raw clone of a pre-repair state of the hard drive and keep it for 1 month after finishing the repair – this will enable us to restore your data to the same condition as before the repair. There’s additional £5 charge for this service, to cover our storage and time requirements.
