Hardware charges

Hardware charges:

Student discount (£10) applies on all of these repairs.

  • Overheating repairs - £30
    • if your laptop is cutting out after a while, overheating might be the cause
    • includes stripping the computer, cleaning all grills and fans, fitting new heat paste, and reassembling
    • afterwards it is tested for few hours on 100% load with temperature monitoring
  • Screen fitting charge – £25
  • Motherboard fitting charge – £50
  • Other fitting charges are between £10 – £30 depending on difficulty
  • Socket repair – £50
    • when laptop “cuts off” while on charger, the fault may be in the socket connection
    • we can dissasemble the computer and replace the socket, so the computer powers up again
    • much cheaper than buying a new motherboard
    • does not come with warranty

Component cost:

We fit only quality, brand new electronic components. As they are supplied to us from our contractors, we don’t know exact price of the component until we order it, therefore it’s only orientation prices below. In any case, we are trying to be cheaper than Maplin or B&Q for components. There is also no student discount on parts.

  • RAM modules – £15 – £50

  • DVD-RW drives£30 – £60
    • orientation price. May vary by 50% depending on the model
